Introduction

The purpose of this example is to investigate the difference in appearance of teleseismic waveforms when the continental AK135-f structure at the source is replaced by the average AK135-f structure, which includes a 3.0 km deep water layer.

The comparison is made at an arc distance of 50 degrees for source depths of 10, 100 and 600 km. The first set of figures compares the teleseismic velocity Green's functions in units of velocity.

The second set of comparisons low pass filters the traces at a 0.05 Hz, and integrates, and plots them in an overlay to see the effect of the source model for teleseismic P-wave wave source inversion.

In the figures, he continental model is in red and the water model is in blue.
