Tohoku-Oki / Sendai Earthquake Data Now Available

Following the magnitude 9.0 event on Dec. 26, 2011, many of the SG groups in GGP are making available files for the months of March and April 2011 on this website.

The data are in two formats, 1 minute data and second data, each in separate directories. All files have headers that contain the metadata (including station latitude, longitude, and instrument calibration factors for gravity and pressure).

*dd contains either a single day of the month (e.g. 05), or is set to 00 if the whole month is in the file

Note there is no repair code for second data (it is implicitly always 00). All second data files are zipped.

Log Files

Some stations report log files (*.log) indicating events at the station that may show up in the data. These are put in the 1 minute directory.

*instruments such as CD029 in Bad Homburg have dual sensors, separated vertically by several cm. Each sensor generates an independent data series identified by a letter and a number, e.g. H4 for the lower sensor and H5 for the upper. For most stations, only 1 sensor series is available

^In addition Peter Wolf notes: W3,W4,H4,H5 are new data series. They are not in the GGP database. Our gravimeter CD029 and CD030 were rebuilt at GWR with a new small dewar, and new cooling system. After that, they have interchanged the locations. CD029 is now at Bad Homburg (H4, H5) and CD030 is now at Wettzell (W3, W4)

**Wuhan station has no 1s station air pressure data for SG T004 - the pressure sampling rate is 10s. Thus they have we uploaded also 10s data with air pressure.
