introduction
Earthquake recordings provide an opportunity to validate instrument metadata and also instrument performanace. There are several ways to do this:
- Comparison of ground motions for all channels at a given station for local earthquakes
- Comparison of ground motions for all channels at a given station for teleseisms, which permits a test of the low frequency performance
- Comparison of ground motions for between stations for teleseisms, which permits a comparison of station gains since teleseismis body waves and surface waves are not expected to have significantly different amplitudes across the dimensions of a local network.
