Academic Background
I did my undergraduate at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, graduating in 1967 with a B.S. in Physics. While at Xavier I worked at the seismograph station and did my first research on surface waves. I worked on a Ph.D. in Geophysics at Saint Louis University (1967-1969, 1971-1974). After a post-doc at CIRES, University fo Colorado, I joined the faculty of the Deaprtment of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences of Saint Louis University in 1975. 
 
 

Teaching

• EASA 193: Introduction to Earthquakes This class is designed to fulfill the science requirement in the Core Curriculum for those students not majoring in a science. It is usually taught once a year in the fall semester, with an enrollment of 40-45 students. Very little math background is required, and students are assessed on quizzes, homeworks, a midterm exam, and a final exam.
