Dr.
El-Shafei received a B.Sc. in geology from Suez

Canal
University (SCU), Egypt in 1984. He received a M.Sc. in
|
Structural
Geology from SCU in 1992 and a Ph.D. in
Structural

Geology and
Tectonics from SCU, Egypt in 1998. He has been
|
a member of
the Faculty of Science at SCU, Egypt since 1998.

|
Dr. El-Shafei
joined the Department of Earth and Atmospheric
|
Sciences,
Saint Louis University in 2000 working on
|
Synthesizing
the Proterozoic Geology of the East African
|
Orogen with
Dr. Tim Kusky and working on Heat-Flow
|
Constraints of
Seismogenic Faulting From Thermochronolgy
|
Studies of
Apatites, Zircons, and K-Felspars in Two Exhumed
|
Faults of the
San Andreas System with Dr. David Kirschner.

He also
appointed (Fall 2001) as Adjunct Instructor and taught
