*Professional Background
   Dr. El-Shafei received a B.Sc. in geology from Suez
Canal University (SCU), Egypt in 1984. He received a M.Sc. in
Structural Geology from SCU in 1992 and a Ph.D. in Structural
Geology and Tectonics from SCU, Egypt in 1998. He has been
a member of the Faculty of Science at SCU, Egypt since 1998.
Dr. El-Shafei joined the Department of Earth and Atmospheric
Sciences, Saint Louis University in 2000 working on
Synthesizing the Proterozoic Geology of the East African
Orogen with Dr. Tim Kusky and working on Heat-Flow
Constraints of Seismogenic Faulting From Thermochronolgy
Studies of Apatites, Zircons, and K-Felspars in Two Exhumed
Faults of the San Andreas System with Dr. David Kirschner.
He also appointed (Fall 2001) as Adjunct Instructor and taught
EAS 542 Advanced Structural geology.
