Theme
The Tibetan plateau and India-Eurasia continental collision tectonics.
Guidelines
- You should select a recently published paper (less than two years) relevant to the theme of the course.
- Discuss your selection with your advisor at least two weeks before the date.
- Email me the title and abstract of the paper for approval at least one week before the date. If available, provide the web link of the paper too.
- The presentation is limited to 30-40 min, followed by 15 min discussion.
- Your presentaion should contain the following sections at minimum:
- What are the scientific questions the authors were addressing?
- Why are they important? and why do I choose this paper?
- What are the conclusions (or bottomlines) of the paper?
- How did the authors reach their conclusions? What are the data?
What are the techniques used? Make sure that you understand the figures/tables you use in your presentation.
- What are your comments?
- To encourage participation, everyone is required to ask at least five questions during the course of the semester. I will keep a record.
