Syllabus

Course focuses on the poorly understood, and hence controversial, large-scale processes and events that have affected the gross structure and chemistry of the Earth's mantle, crust, atmosphere, and biosphere. See details in lecture schedule

Grading

20% in class quizzes (~5 sets)
50% homework assignments (~5 sets)
10% mid-term exam
20% final exam

A 90-100; B+ 80-89; B 70-79; C+ 60-69; C 50-59; D 30-59; F 0-29

Discussions on homework assignments among students are encouraged. But the answers you turn in must be your own words based on your own work.

Late Homework Policy: All assignments are due at the beginning of class on the due date.  Request for extension due to emergency must be made by email before the due time. A penalty of 10% of the full score will be applied for late turned in assignments for each overdue day (less than 24 hours is counted as 1 day).
