Annual Meeting of the Geological Society of America, Denver, Colorado

In October 1999 several undergraduate and graduate students attended the annual meeting of the Geological Society of America in Denver, Colorado. The Department of Eath and Atmospheric Sciences provided partial support for the students. All the students enjoyed and benefited from the trip and most hoped to attend the meeting the following year.

In the words of one student:

"I think this GSA conference was a wonderful opportunity for students to explore the numerous fields of geology. Through a series of lectures and poster sessions, the student was able to learn about the different types of research being conducted. This conference broadened my understanding of various career paths that could be taken in the geologic and environmental fields. Moreover, this was a unique opportunity to speak with other students about their studies or research and obtain information from graduate schools. I would strongly recommend any student interested in this field to attend such a conference. Also, I hope that the department would continue to support and encourage students to attend."
