Connecting a Quanterra Q380 via ethernet to a SPARC running comserv.
A four port Moxa Nport Server was used.
Port 1 was configured for 9600 baud with no flow control
and as a TCP Server using the standard port number of 4001.
Port 4 was configured for 19200 baud with no flow control
and as a TCP Client. The Client was set to send to the SPARC IP address.
And to use a specific TCP Port.
The SPARC comserv was configured to use the ipport that was
set for port 4.
starting up comserv and a datalog for the configured station resulted in
data flow, just as would occur if the Q380 was connected to the SPARC serial port.
Very Simple and very effective.
Security features:
Password protected Server configuration.
TCP Server may be restriced to a accept a connection from
a single IP address.
TCP Client mode requires an IP address and port. Only that IP address
is allowed to connect.
The Nport device may also be configured to use UDP.
The comserv process may be configured to use UDP as well.
This configuration is not locally used. But will be tested at a later date.
