Assignment
#2
- Extend
the previous solution for the sphere (Question 4) to generate a 2-D
horizontal array (x, y) of vertical gravity values (gz) for a
buried sphere. Allow the sphere to be at arbitrary position and depth (x0,
y0, z0) with respect to the coordinate system. Use the
program to generate a contour map of the gravity field that you display with
PSI-plot. [Choose a horizontal array area of 1 km x 1 km, and appropriate
values of the sphere’s parameters to generate a peak anomaly of 5 mgal].
- Do
problem #1 in the Magnetization problems in 4.6 Problem Set (p. 79).
- Do
problem #2 in the Magnetization problems in 4.6 Problem Set (p. 80).
- Extend
the program in the last question to a 2-D horizontal array above a dipole
buried at (x0, y0, z0), with an arbitrary
direction of magnetization (m), exactly as you did for the gravity.
Show contours of a vertically magnetized sphere at the same location as you
chose for question 1.
Due: October 15
