| What's your job like?
My main job is to design and supervise
the drilling of large diameter water production wells for the largest
raw water supplier in Arizona, as well as perform maintenance and
rehabilitate existing, older water wells. I also serve as a
liaison between SRP and the municipal water suppliers from the City of
Tempe and Town of Gilbert for groundwater issues. What's the most interesting part of your job? "The most interesting aspect of my job is partaking in the water management of both surface and groundwater supplies to provide for urban growth in the desert." Any advice for current undergraduates? "Get out into the field and practice as much as possible. Definitely do a field camp capstone course. Don't be afraid to make mistakes and ask questions. And no matter what your specialty becomes whether its biogeochemistry, planetary geology, or hydrogeology, take classes like structural geology and historical geology seriously--they ALWAYS come back to haunt you!" |
